Staining the soffet

In order to help a bit (and in part because it'll be our job to re-stain every few years from now on) we decided to help with some of the exterior staining. We just did the soffet and fascia of the northern wall and it took us 2 weeks! (Though we appreciate that we do have 2 other full time jobs and kids.) It is a 6 step process: sand, 2 separate layers of Penetreate (a borate based fungicide and pesticide) and 2 layers of stain with the additive of a very time sensitive bug juice (another pesicide which has to be mixed and applied within 6 hours.) Lets not forget to mention that all this requires the use of multi-levels of scaffolding. After brushing stain over our heads for the weekend, we look forward to possibly brushing on logs someday.
