We've closed!!

It's official! On October 1st we signed with the bank. We have our construction loan!! We're feeling happy and more in debt, but mostly happy.

We celebrated with hot dogs on the grill at the farm (an expensive dinner just didn't seem right after all the mortage signing!) Then we walked up to see the footer forms in the light.

The plan is for the footers to be poured this week. The blocks should come next. Our builder has estimated that the framing for the 1st floor should then be done by the end of October.
We will need to sign a production contract with the log home company (now that we have the financing.) And the logs should be ready to be stacked once the 1st floor is done. We might be under roof by winter!

Everything else on the farm is going alright. We moved the goats back to the south field for the time being. This way we can open up the temporary fencing for good for construction traffic. We're in the process of making a "bachelor's pad" run-in shed for the little boys. (See photo) It's time they be separated from the girls. Once we can get more permanent wire up for another field, we'll separate the little girls from the nannies. They seem to be almost all the way weaned, so hopefully there won't be too much heart ache. We plan to breed the older nannies again this year (and not the younger ones.) With the new house being built, caring for the goats and getting our current house ready for the market, it should be a busy fall and winter!
