The baby boom began 2 days ago with a set of triplets. Though the mom was one of the older of the bunch, we've have had to do the most work with two of them. They couldn't seem to figure out exactly how to latch on to nurse. We left them in a make-shift stall in the shed for the night figuring that they just needed some time and peace and quiet. The last born (dark brown head in top left photo) seemed to figure things out but by 24 hours after they were born it was pretty clear that the other two hadn't.

(See second photo on left where the kid is trying to nurse the "false teat") They were pretty weak looking. Too weak in fact that they wouldn't even suck a bottle well. So (with some directions from a book) we placed a rubber catheter down into their stomachs and gave them the milk via tube feed. They perked up but not enough to be left overnight in the cold so the two came home with us. They stayed

the night in a hay-padded dog kennel. After multiple failed tries with the lamb nipple we tried a (human) baby bottle and one of the two began to bottle feed this morning. We placed her back with momma... and she figured it out! The last one (see photo on right) is still a work in progress. She isn't really all that interested in the bottle or just hasn't gotten the strength. We keep offering and then tube feed the rest. Hopefully, there won't be too much more of this.
