A loss, tags and more twins

Unfortunately, the weak little triplet we had been working so hard on did not make it through the day today. By the looks of things this morning, we didn't think that it would be too long. We did give her some milk anyway and then took her out to be with her mom and siblings. She passed peacefully sometime while we were at church. We had a small funeral (Faith said a prayer) and buried her next to the momma cat.

Then, true to life on a farm, there were things to tend to... tagging for one. Not as difficult as one might expect, the first 5 kids got their "earrings" as our kids call them. They actually, didn't seem to be bothered much at all. To the right is Pinto's baby boy flaunting his new #3 tag.

And, to then end the day on a higher note, another doe gave birth to twins while we were there. Two girls. The second one is completely red head to hoof! We learned (from the triplets) not to leave until you're sure that they have all latched and fed well. The first twin had no trouble. The second (who was much smaller) took a little longer.

In the photo on the just above on the left, Jonathan is giving the mom some grain before trying to help the baby latch on. It worked. (whew!) Total baby goat count currently 7.
