Jonathan and the boys went out to check on the goats today. All 14 of the babies were all in the small pasture and easily counted. We had another baby 'disappear' -- or more likely take cover in some tall grass after it followed it's mom out the the pasture -- but this time it was just for a day and a night. Previously, a few of the kids will stay in the old milk shed. Jonah had been given the job to "count the babies in the shed" on the previous few days. Today, he wanted to do the same. Since all the babies appeared to be out, Jonathan told him that there weren't any. Jonah, being Jonah, needed to check anyway.

He came running back. "Dad! Dad! There are FOUR NEW BABIES!"
Sure enough, orange tag#11 had 4 babies. By the time that she was found, she had 3 of them cleaned off and they were nursing but the fourth was hardly touched. Even with some encouragement, she didn't seem to want to have anything to do with it.... so, Jonathan spent the afternoon cleaning her off and milking mom and getting her to take a bottle. They say that if the baby is bathed (and doesn't smell right) that the mom won't take her back no matter what. We may be feeding her for the long-haul. We shall see.
