As best as we can calculate, the kids are due to start coming in about 4 weeks. For us that means its time to give them a worming treatment and their booster vaccinations timed so that the babies will be protected for awhile until they can get their first vaccinations. Also, a few could use a little hoof trimming action as well.

We did acquire a "working shoot" to help with keeping them penned without wrestling them. It worked pretty well. Of the 17, the first 11 went through with the help of a little grain bait and some nudges. The next four needed more than some encouragement. (A little more like a goat rodeo.) The last 2, well, they are still looking at us with weary eyes and -yes- they still need their treatments. (Score: Goats 2, Hammans 15)

Except for getting a face full of spat out worming medicine, there were no complications or casualties. As a matter of fact, most of them didn't even seem to hold any of it against us. One even tried to go back into the shoot on her own. I suspect she was looking for another handful of grain. They do love that grain.
