This week this chickens had their first taste of freedom. They were allowed to have "free range" and they loved it! At first, they were timid and stayed near the coop. As time progressed, they became brazen and a few discovered the utility shed and had to be caught by hand when it was time to return to their coop. Since a large hawk has also noticed their freedom (or access!), we've only allowed them freedom when we are around. The second photo is of the most relaxed chicken (feel kicked out, eyes closed) I've ever seen. This was after of the first times they had been out. It's guessed that she just wore herself out!
With regards to the goats, it looks like things have stablized for the moment. We retreated a pair (Pinto and her baby #3) as they were looking on the thin side. Other then that, they seem to be doing well.
With regards to the house, we got the good news that we should be able to close on the building loan in a week or two. We've got almost everything into the county for the building permit. We just need something from the architect... and then that should be ready. We signed with a builder. If everything goes as planned, we can look forward to footers being poured at the end of the month!
