Moving goats

We decided to move the goats to a new field. Many of them are still looking a bit sickly (anemic) and hope that by giving them yet another worm medicine and moving them we can get ahead of the game. It was an adventure to move them... the path that we had planned was full of yummy high grass and weeds to chomp on! Jonathan eventually "herded" them in using the tractor. (Video coming soon!) I ended up doing ALOT of running and yelling at the dogs (who were scaring the goats in the wrong direction) and the kids (so they wouldn't get trampled.) In the end, we were successful... the goats were moved... BUT it cost a tractor tire (!) a pair of hearing protectors and a lot of sweat and tears. (Fortunately, no blood was lost!) The first picture is the start (leaving the old field) and the second picture is the finish (chomping away in the new field with the new run-in shed.)

Unfortunately, it has been a few months since we finihed the run-in shed... and it is already occupied by a few nests of barn swallows and a HUGE HORNETS NEST!! Getting rid of this will likely be another "adventure."

And, the chicks are tuning into full fledged chickens! They are growing well. We hope to get the coop done soon so as they can "stretch their wings" and go outside.
