It has been C-O-L-D these last few days with lows as low as minus 4 with wind child as low as minus 15. The pond is frozen (even more so than you can see in the photo) and water must be carried out to the goats. As if that wasn't enough to content to in the cold, #17 got caught under one of the large bales of hay. (Jonathan used his super-hero strength to move the ~300lb bale off of her.) Its suspected that they were eating 'out the middle' and it just collapsed onto her. We watched her closely for the next few days and she seems to be doing alright.
Next, #21 (the same one with parasite issues) somehow fell into a lick bucket. Jonathan found her hooves up and head down in the bucket. He got her out, warmed her up and fed her some grain. She looked a bit rough for awhile, but she also seems to be doing ok right now... though we haven't seen her near the bucket yet.
On the other front, the run-in shed is almost ready to be stained and get a roof AND we talked with the gentleman who is to "make" the driveway and do some grading (and maybe even add another pond.) With things being slow, he may be able to start in as early as a few weeks. Very exciting. We're also waiting to hear back from the log home company and then it's time to get serious about financing. We'll be trying to stay as warm and dry as possible for the mean while....
