Sunshine and springtime weather

We were blessed with a day with sun, no rain, little wind and the 50s. A taste of spring! So as not to waste it, we made good use and vaccinated the babies and trimmed a few dastardly hooves. We also started preparing for spring with some ordering. We ordered 25 baby chicks. This time we have decided to go with a 'surprise mix' of layers. (Should be interesting!) We also ordered some blueberry bushes, raspberry plants, a few apple trees and a cherry tree.

Baby goats are growing! #41's ears show that she suffered from some frostbite as a consequence of the bitter cold nights after she was born. She looks like she'll be just fine otherwise!Goat rodeo... round up those babies!!Our very helpful becoming-expert baby goat catchers.Bottle babies are growing. They've taken to hay and grain, too. Hopefully, we'll be able to wean them completely soon.

Goats must have consprired to get rid of this apple tree... they ate all the bark off around the bottom!! The only saving grace is that it was an old tree that really hadn't shown great production of apples. It also gave us a good reason to buy more apple trees to plant in the orchard this spring. :)
