Hay!

It's that time of year again... time to cut hay! Mow, dry, rake (see picture) and then bale! Fortunately, we know a really nice guy who has all of the equipment and does a great job. For his work, he gets half of the hay. We just have to load our half. Since we wouldn't be able to use even all of half of the hay our pastures yield (at least not right now) we typically sell the first cutting and then keep the second.
It was also time (almost past time) to separate the little bucks. One one little one really gave us a "rodeo," the rest went fairly easily. The easiest to catch was #29 (nicknamed PeeWee). He's one of the two "bottle babies" all grown up. Notice the left ear that was frostbitten. He's almost so friendly it's at the point of annoyance. The other photo is of yearling doe #6. She stood there with the piece of grass hanging out of her mouth for a while before the 'rodeo' began.
